  • Daily meals usually include zajtrk (breakfast) early in the morning, malica (midmorning snack), kosilo (main meal) sometime during the afternoon or after work, andvečerja (light supper) in the evening. Families usually eat the main meal together.

  • The Slovene diet has been influenced by Austrian, Italian, south Slavic, and Hungarian cuisines and is therefore a mix of tastes and textures. However, a typical main meal includes meat (beef or chicken), beef or chicken soup, green salad, and apple, cherry, or cheese strudel with coffee.
